PENNY ANTE ACRES
We offer only full care board to our customers. The farm provides a professional, friendly atmosphere and welcomes all types of horses and people. Retirees, lay-ups, trail horses, as well as show horses can find a caring home at our farm. Boarders are welcome to come by anytime before 8PM; however, if a visit is required after that time, all we ask is that the customer notifies us by telephone. This courtesy allows us to keep track of who is in the barn after hours, so we can maintain a secure environment for the horses.
Our stalls feature 12' x 12' dimensions and have rubber floor mats as well as a large window to the outside for light and fresh air. All stalls are cleaned daily. Soiled bedding is replaced with wood pellets that are super absorbent, which leaves the stalls dry and smelling fresh. Manure from the stalls is hauled away once a month and the pastures are drug with a chain harrow on a regular basis as part of our parasite control program. The barn has an indoor wash rack that has hot and cold water, which makes washing horses possible any time of year except in the coldest weather. The barn also features a climate controlled tack room for storing and protecting expensive tack from the elements.
The out door riding ring measures 110’ by 175’ and is lit with six mercury vapor lights that provides amble lighting for night time riding and does not cast any shadows. The riding surface has a stone dust base with approximately two inches of sand, and it is worked regularly to keep smooth and to prevent the formation of weeds.
Horses are feed every twelve hours, usually at 5am and 5pm, a custom blend of oats and soy oil with a ration balancer (Alfa Grow and Win). However, we will be happy to feed anything a customer desires as long as the feed is provided. Horses are fed an orchard grass, alfalfa mix, or grass hay depending on individual horses’ needs. Hay is also supplied outside during those times of year when pasture grass is sparse.
Boarders are welcome to use our veterinarian and shoesmith or their own, which ever is more comfortable. Outside riding instructors are also welcome to teach on our farm. Our goal is to try and accommodate a wide range of people and horses and create a safe and happy environment for all. So, please feel free to contact us anytime about your boarding needs.
